Privacy Policy
This policy covers the SmartSDR AF Android application and this website, both operated by BurnSoft (“we”, “us”).
The short version
SmartSDR AF does not collect, store, or sell your personal data. There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking of who you are. The only information that ever leaves your device is anonymous diagnostic and usage data used to find and fix problems.
What the app stores on your device
The app keeps your settings — radio connection details, display preferences, profiles and workspaces, and (if you use SmartLink) the login token issued by FlexRadio's authentication service — locally on your device. Your logbook, memories, band stack, net reminders and any QSO recordings are also stored only on your device. None of this is transmitted to us, and it is removed when you uninstall the app. You can export your logbook as ADIF at any time.
When you sign in to SmartLink, authentication happens directly between your device and FlexRadio's login service (Auth0). Your FlexRadio account credentials are never sent to us and we never see them.
Audio and microphone
Receive audio streams directly from your radio to your device and is played, not stored — unless you use the QSO recorder, in which case recordings are saved on your device only and can be deleted from the log. The app requests microphone permission for phone-mic PTT; microphone audio is sent only to your own radio and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted to us or anyone else.
Callsign lookups, spots and other online services
Some tools fetch public data from third-party services when you use them. The POTA spot list comes from the POTA API, WSPR spots from wspr.live, and callsign lookups from callook.info (US calls) or, if you enter your own QRZ credentials in Settings, from QRZ.com. In each case the request goes directly from your device to that service and includes only what is needed — a callsign you looked up, for example. Your QRZ credentials are stored on your device and sent only to QRZ.com.
We do not operate any of these services and are not party to the requests; their own privacy policies apply.
Diagnostics and analytics
To find and fix problems, the app can send anonymous crash reports and connection diagnostics to Sentry, a crash-reporting service. Reports include the app version, Android version, device model and the technical details of the failure. They are scrubbed of personal information before sending and do not include your callsign, audio, logbook, frequencies or radio traffic. This is on by default and can be turned off at any time under Settings → Share crash reports.
This website uses Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service that reports anonymous, aggregated page-view statistics. It does not use cookies and does not track you across sites.
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for marketing or advertising, and we never will.
Payments
SmartSDR AF is sold as a one-time purchase through Google Play. Your payment is processed entirely by Google; we never receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or other payment information. Google's handling of that data is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
Children
SmartSDR AF is a tool for licensed amateur radio operators and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future feature requires collecting something new — we will update this page and change the effective date below. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
